Single
expansion joints consist of a single bellows
element with multiple convolutions, and various
end fittings for easy installation into the
piping system, equipment, or pressure vessel.
Single expansion joints are primarily designed
to accommodate pipe expansion in the axial
direction. They can also absorb small lateral
deflections or slight angular rotations concurrent
with a reduced axial movement, depending on
the length and diameter of the bellows. |

Expansion Joints |
|
 |
Universal
expansion joints contain two bellows elements
with multiple convolutions joined by a common
center pipe or spool piece. These joints are
used for the purpose of absorbing any combination
of the three basic movements of a piping system,
i.e. axial, lateral, or angular movements.
Universal expansion joints are used to accommodate
lateral movements that are too excessive for
a single axial expansion joint, or where there
is a limitation on the amount of lateral forces
allowed on the connecting piping system or
equipment. |

American
BOA HVAC expansion joints are an economical
solution to compensate for moderate to large
thermal expansion in various HVAC piping systems
such as chilled and hot water, steam, and
condensate. The highly flexible bellows element
allows movements in axial and lateral directions,
and /or angular rotation. |
