Within the Automotive Sector, our products play crucial roles in Exhaust, Fuel, and Engine Management Systems. In the Aerospace industry, we provide solutions for Ground Support Systems, Testing Systems, and On-Vehicle Fluid Conveyance. In the Instrumentation Market, we serve a wide variety of industries that rely on bellows for volumetric compensation, actuation, penetration seals, pressure switches, and many other applications.
American BOA, Inc. traces its roots back to 1906, when BOA AG was founded in Lucerne, Switzerland after producing the original patent for a ‘metal bellows cartridge’ several decades earlier. As metal forming technology advanced in the 1930’s BOA began to manufacture small precision bellows (often used in measuring instruments). Larger bellows and expansion joints followed.
High quality and superior design created a demand for BOA products outside of Switzerland. In 1958 BOA founded American BOA in New York City as a sales office for BOA products and established a small factory and warehouse in New Jersey. American BOA’s business continued to grow and in 1981 the factory in New Jersey was no longer big enough. American BOA relocated and centralized operations in our present location in Cumming, Georgia. In the early 1990’s, IWKA in Karlsruhe, Germany, acquired the BOA companies and began import of flexible metal hose manufactured by Tubest in France. Later IWKA partnered with American BOA to manufacture its flexible automotive exhaust parts, establishing the Automotive Division.
The 1990’s and 2000’s saw a sustained activity as American BOA expanded into numerous heavy industrial and precision bellows markets. This also marked a period of investment into technology and new capabilities that set the stage for expansion into new industries. American BOA established its Aerospace business unit in 2018 to formalize the increasing role of this market segment within the company. In 2020 BOA Mexico was established as a subsidiary manufacturing facility to support the light vehicle exhaust market.
American BOA currently holds both AS 9100D and IATF 16949:2016 Quality Management System certifications, as well as ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification.
The BOA group has been owned by the RIH Group of Austria since 2018.
